Moe racing tips & best bets – Monday, 28 September 2020
Monday’s nine-race card at Moe kicks off the week of Victorian racing in the build up to Turnbull Stakes Day at Flemington on Saturday.
The track at Moe has come up a Heavy 8 after a weekend of consistent rainfall, so the search for wet trackers will be on yet again. The rail is out 6m for the entire circuit after being out at the 4m mark when we last raced here.
The first of nine races is set to jump at 1pm AEST.
Monday racing tips for Moe
Having recently moved from Simon Wylde’s stable to train under Patrick Payne, this 5YO mare broke her maiden tag last time out when scoring by 3.5 lengths as a short-priced favourite. Despite drawing the widest barrier here, expect Laura Lafferty to drop back in the 12-horse field and get going before the home turn as she did last time. The step up into a BM58 will not be an issue, while Devon Miss has failed to finish in the placings only once from four starts on rain-affected ground.

Greg Eurell and Noel Callow team up with this 5YO gelding hoping to break through at start three after going close in both of his two races to date. He looked home last start before being caught in the shadows of the post. Both starts have been on a true Heavy 10, so he can handle the wet track at Moe. From barrier four, Callow will be able to get this gelding one of the rails and just off the pace. Love Barker will prove quite hard to catch in what doesn’t look like a deep maiden.

Mick Price must have high expectations of this 3YO filly after sending her down the Flemington straight on September 12 in the Listed Cap D’Antibes Stakes. The start prior she settled three wide with no cover here on a Heavy 8 and absolutely bolted in as an odds-on favourite. The obvious drop down in class looks ideal and the price on offer is hard to pass up.
