Racing heads to Mildura on Tuesday afternoon, and HorseBetting.com.au’s Victorian racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie selections for the eight-part card. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is in the true position, and the meeting is set to get underway at 1:30pm AEDT.

Mildura Best Bet: Polina

In the second leg of the quaddie, we expect the Ciaron Maher & David Eustace-trained Polina to get back into the winner’s stall. Having not won since her maiden victory at Moe on January 20, the four-year-old Darci Brahma mare returned to some form with a second-place finish at Horsham last time out. Having settled third in the running, she was beaten by the barest possible margin, but she looks well placed to claim this BM58. From barrier four, we expect Harry Coffey to give her the run of the race in the one-one, and when asked for an effort she should be simply too good as she gets back onto a firmer deck for the first time since that Moe win.

Best BetRace 6 – Polina (#5) $2.20 with Sportsbet

Mildura Next Best: Donna Natalina

One of our better bets at Mildura comes up in the last race of the day when the John Salanitri-trained Donna Natalina resumes off a nine-month spell. Having finished third behind Diamonds In the Sky and Rainbiel at Caulfield on January 26, the daughter of Street Boss is sure to enjoy stepping out in a Monday BM58 at country level. Despite needing to carry 60kg following Logan McNeil’s 1.5kg claim, she looks to be the one in the race with the most upside. From barrier eight, we expect McNeil to use his claim to his advantage and go forward, allowing Donna Natalina to dictate terms and kick clear in the home straight over 1000m.

Next BestRace 8 – Donna Natalina (#5) $2.10 with Ladbrokes

Mildura Best Value: Mygift Is My Song

In the opening event of the day, we are hoping the Lindsey Smith-trained Mygift Is My Song can improve on a debut performance where she did plenty wrong when finishing sixth at Donald on September 12. The three-year-old Your Song filly will go around with blinkers on for the first time, and that should help bring her into calculations on Monday. Logan McNeil claims 1.5kg and will look to have her settled outside the leader in the race. If she has come on since that debut run, we should see Mygift fighting out the finish.

Best ValueRace 1 – Mygift Is My Song (#7) $9 with Ladbrokes
