Race 1 – Argyle Maintenance Maiden Plate (1500m)

Marching On has finished second at both race day starts and it looks a major winning chance. The Michael Kent-trained gelding finished a length behind the winner on debut at Moonee Valley, but finished four lengths behind the winner as the $1.50 favourite last start. Plenty was expected of the three-year-old by Sepoy which is tipped to break maiden status very soon. Consider as a winning chance in an even field.

Mutin is another son of Sepoy which hasn’t done much wrong to date. The powerful Lindsay Park lines up the gelding which finished second at its first two races before running third at Sandown last start. It settled midfield before producing a solid finish and the rise up in distance to 1500m looks ideal for gelding which has staying breeding lines. Follow the market for any strong support.

Race 2 – Thebigscreencompany R64 Handicap (1300m)

Apiata hasn’t quite lived up to expectations after winning on debut, but it will find this much easier than recent assignments. The David Brideoake-trained colt beat a nice field on debut at Ballarat before producing a huge finish behind Benz at Moonee Valley. It was thrown in the deep end when taking on stakes company at Caulfield, but it wasn’t able to let down. The son of O’Reilly resumed this campaign in the Zeditave Stakes where it made late ground behind Benz and the drop in grade coupled with the inside draw makes it a winning chance.

Heza Dude is only a three-time winner from 32 starts, but it could provide punters with some each way value. The Udyta Clarke-trained gelding might not have a great record winning races, but it has a total of 21 placings and that is some incredible consistency. Ben Allen takes the ride and some weight off its back so consider on an each way basis.

Race 3 – Mitavite Challenge R70 Handicap (1400m)

Lady Effort is a capable four-year-old which went close last time out. The Ciaron Maher-trained mare flashed home to run Sebring Dream within a nose margin and that form will be strong for this. It has placed twice at this distance and once on this track, so it should be considered in all bets. Mark Zahra retains the ride after being aboard last start so it should feature prominently.

Quilate fought on well behind Turbo Miss in the Tressady Stakes at Flemington and that form looks good for midweek level. The Kent-trained four-year-old has good form prior which also included a placing behind Sebring Dream and that looks the best form race for this. It put two wins together last campaign and having had three runs this preparation, it should be ready to fire now.

Race 4 – Ladbrokes Info Hub Handicap (1600m)

Netherfield is a New Zealand-bred gelding which looked good when winning last start. The Mick Price-trained three-year-old scored easily by three lengths at Terang and although this will be harder, punters had to be impressed with that effort. The Darci Brahma progeny are running well at the moment and this looks another logical step in what should be a good career.

Fox Hall did it tough last start and was too good for them. The Tony McEvoy-trained colt didn’t have it all its own way last start, but it pulled out the 1.7-length win which made it consecutive wins. The three-year-old son of Foxwedge makes the rise in grade for this which won’t make it easy, but it has the talent and it should be paying each way odds.

Race 5 – Le Pine Funerals Marathon Heat 1 (3000m)

Thunder Connection has a good record to date with 10 starts for three wins and four placings. The Andrew Payne-trained gelding has plenty of miles in its legs this campaign and the rise to 3000m looks ideal for it. The son of Pins is out of a Zabeel mare and it should be one of the toughest horses to beat in this race with Luke Currie in the saddle.

Gilago defeated Thunder Connection last start and warrants serious attention. The Robbie Griffiths-trained stayer was well-favoured to win last start at Pakenham and it scored nicely over a quality staying field. The daughter of Churchill Downs has yet to race at this distance, but it’s a natural stayer and it stays down in weight with only 53.5kg on its back.

Race 6 – Elaren Security Services R64 (1300m)

Good Oh looked the goods when winning on debut and Craig Williams sticks like glue. The Kent-trained filly defeated subsequent Monday winner Fast Stryke by a neck on debut at Sandown and another good run looks likely. The well-bred filly by Duporth is well-respected and it shouldn’t mind carrying 60kg as it has a fair amount of class.

Hurry is a New Zealand filly which should be treated with caution. The Michael Moroney-trained daughter of Savabeel scored an impressive maiden win two starts back by over a length before running second behind the stakes-performed Hall Of Fame at Ellerslie. That form has stood up in Sydney this campaign and this midweek race is an easier class. Good barrier and it could run at good odds.

Race 6 tip: Hurry to place at CrownBet.com.au

Race 7 – Mitavite Challenge Heat 8 (1400m)

This Kid Rocks has rattled off three consecutive wins and must be seen as a winning chance again. The four-year-old gelding has steadily risen through the grades this campaign which included a solid win at Moonee Valley and it backed that up with another good win last start. It handles all track conditions and getting the improving apprentice Ben Allen in the saddle is a positive.

Manhattan Blues is out of form, but has the ability to win at midweek level. The Lindsay Park-trained gelding has taken on much harder opposition and comes into this having raced in the Apache Cat last start at Cranbourne. It usually needs time to show its best and punters should expect a better effort with the two runs under its belt.

Race 8 – Annie And Sid R64 Handicap (1800m)

Wild Cavalier has been in good form its last couple of starts, winning at Yarra Valley before finishing second at Sandown last start. The Niall Phillips-trained gelding is having its first start on this track and it’s rarely far away from the prize, so consider on an each way basis.

Stellarized comes into this after winning back-to-back races and after winning by three lengths last start. The six-year-old gets the top weight which isn’t ideal, but Jordan Childs takes some weight off its back and it could be another runner at upset odds.
