Can She’s Ideel win the 2021 Melbourne Cup?

The Bjorn Baker-trained She’s Ideel is a six-year-old mare on the rise in the staying ranks and managed to finish one-length off Persan in third-place in the Caulfield Cup. We are not saying she is an out and out winning chance, but considering her effort in the Caulfield Cup she simply cannot be ruled out as a top three hope on Tuesday. If the rain comes, her chances increase dramatically having won four races from eight starts on rain-affected ground, but unfortunately for the Dundeel mare, we look set to be racing on firmer going this time out.

When will She’s Ideel run in the Melbourne Cup?

The Melbourne Cup will be run on the first Tuesday in November despite all the COVID-19 chaos, but without the huge crowds that normally grace Flemington on Cup Day.

The one thing that hasn’t changed about the 2021 Melbourne Cup is the horses.

Once again The Cup has brought together an elite field of Melbourne Cup horses to contest the two mile race for $7.75 million.

Can She’s Ideel win The Cup?

Despite running 7th, beaten 6.75-lengths in the Caulfield Cup, She’s Ideel was just one-length off Persan in third-place suggesting she may not be the worse place bet in Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup. Unfortunately for her, it looks like we will be racing on a firmer deck and we would much rather a wet track having missed the top three once in eight starts on rain-affected going.
