Incentivise was seeking to become the first horse to win the Caulfield Cup and Melbourne Cup in the same year since Ethereal in 2001. Unfortunately, the Peter Moody-trained galloper fell short of completing the double and was retired after his effort in the race that stops the nation.

Incentivise finished second in his only attempt at the Melbourne Cup in 2021, falling just short of the Caulfield Cup/Melbourne Cup double.
