Melbourne Cup Day quaddie tips

Melbourne Cup at Flemington Racecourse

WHAT would Australia’s most famous race day be without a quaddie?

Melbourne Cup Day is upon us and what self-respecting punter isn’t eyeing off the form and getting their bet slips ready ahead of the 10 race card?

The team at Horse Betting has taken a look at the last four races on Melbourne Cup Day and provided our quaddie tips ahead of what should be a sensational day of racing.

Let’s take a look at the numbers.

Race 7 – Melbourne Cup 3200m

This is without question the hardest race on the card and arguably one of the toughest Melbourne Cup races in recent memory.

It looks like it’s going to be an international race once again, and our first leg is going to have a number of invaders. Marmelo is a big chance off the back of a strong flat season overseas, Best Solution’s Caulfield Cup win was impressive and we have liked what we’ve seen from Avilius all campaign.

We are also impressed by Finche’s Geelong Cup form and The Cliffsofmoher’s race in the Caulfield Stakes and Cup, while first-up runners in Australia Magic Circle and the Lexus Stakes winner A Prince Of Arran are not without serious claims.

See what we mean? We flirted with including the field here but in the interest of a better dividend we’ll limit the horses in the opening leg.

Race 7 quaddie numbers: 1, 2, 3, 9, 10, 13, 17

Race 8 – Furphy Plate 1800m

There looks to be four standouts in this race.

Take It Intern has seen money flood in all day and looks well suited following a Caulfield win. Drops in weight and looks a chance. Life Less Ordinary drops back in grade and has the master Ryan Moore aboard, while Kiwia looks a chance with a good second up record. We’re throwing in Tom Melbourne in what looms as his easiest race in some time,

Race 9 – MSS Security Sprint 1200m

Tversky brings great winning form down from the sunshine state. Success today would be a fifth-straight win for the Queenslander. Brave Song is aiming for back-to-back wins after taking out the Village Stakes at Caulfield last start and was only penalised 1kg for that win. Stellar Collision should improve on that first-up run and looks a sneaky chance while Trekking is a quality performer that has ability to go on to bigger and better things.

Race 9 quaddie numbers: 3, 5, 6, 9

Race 10 – Hong Kong Jockey Club Stakes 1400m

Our Crown Mistress won this time last year in barnstorming fashion and it would be remiss of us not to back her in to replicate that. Her best is brilliant and we have the faith. Resin has failed in two attempts at Flemington but has real claims in a race of this quality. Savatiano has won and placed second twice over four runs this preparation and looks suited by the drop back in distance. Spanner Head adds spice to the quaddie at odds but looks more than capable. Jordy Childs reunites with a galloper he’s won on before, which is a big plus.

Race 10 quaddie numbers: 7, 9, 12, 17
