Market movers and tips for William Reid Stakes card at The Valley

Market movers

PUNTERS are getting excited for this Friday’s Group 1 William Reid Stakes at Moonee Valley and some runners have already been heavily-backed.

The eight-race card at The Valley hosts the William Reid Stakes, Sunline Stakes and a host of great racing action which the punters have dipped into.

We have found the very best market movers for the meeting which kicks off with the Simpson Construction R70 Handicap at 6.30pm.

To find market movers simply head to Sportsbet.com.au which lists the updated and the opening odds for every runner.

Typhoon Monaco – Race 1

Typhoon Monaco has been well-backed to win the opening event. The Robert Smerdon-trained mare has won two from six starts with three placings and punters are hoping for another consistent run.

It scored a classy win at Pakenham in February before running third at Sandown and second at Moonee Valley last time out, which should give punters plenty of confidence.

Having experience on this track is a big bonus and the four-year-old by Monaco Consul looks set for another good run at this distance.

It opened at $2.50 and has shortened into +130 with Sportsbet.com.au. That’s a strong move for a favourite so consider for the win to open the card.

Doubt I’m Dreaming – Race 2

Doubt I’m Dreaming has firmed in from $11 to +800 at CrownBet for the Ascend Sales St Albans Stakes and that’s a solid move considering the strength of the field.

The John McArdle-trained colt is on debut after showing some ability in a recent trial and the betting support suggests a solid debut is on the cards.

Against the likes of Coruscate, Showtime and Muraaqeb – it would be tough to recommend Doubt I’m Dreaming as a legitimate winning chance, but all three favoured runners have drifted in the market which is painting a significant picture.

We suggest following any further betting moves for the debutante.

I Am A Star – Race 6

I Am A Star has been the best-backed runner for the night. The last start winner opened at $2.70 and has firmed into $2 at Sportsbet which is a serious move.

The Shane Nichols-trained filly scored an impressive win in the Kewney Stakes at Flemington last start and the plan all along was to run in the Sunline Stakes.

It’s a three-year-old daughter of I Am Invincible which was tremendous talent and it’s no wonder the punters have come in droves for the filly.

It placed at its only Moonee Valley start which came behind the talented Nurse Kitchen in October and its form since included a win in the Group 1 Myer Classic.

We’re confident it can continue to win so take the $2 available with bookmakers.

Star Turn – Race 7

Keeping with the star theme, punters are keen on Star Turn in the Group 1 William Reid Stakes this Friday night.

The Hawkes-trained colt comes into this having finished third in three consecutive wins and punters are confident that it can turn the luck in its favour.

The son of Star Witness finished third in the Coolmore Stud Stakes behind Flying Artie before again running third in the Lightning Stakes behind Terravista.

The run of placings continued in the Newmarket where it battled on behind Redkirk Warrior, but that form should be strong for this and Moonee Valley should suit the talented youngster.

Star Turn opened at $4.60 and is currently quoted at +320 with Ladbrokes.com.au.
