Madeenaty to continue Wyong tradition

Expensive filly Madeenaty is set to continue the recent run of Wyong Magic Millions Two-Year-Old winners at the Gold Coast.

A $775,000 yearling, Madeenaty has drifted to $9 for Saturday’s Magic Millions Classic despite her Wyong win.

Three of the past six Classic winners have also won the Wyong race – Karuta Queen, Unencumbered and Capitalist.

The other Magic Millions Classic winners in that period – Driefontein, Real Surreal and Le Chef – had their final lead ups in Queensland.

The equivalent Wyong race has also produced placegetters in the Classic with She’s Meaner (2nd, 2008), Snitzel (third, 2005) and Not a Single Doubt (second, 2004).

Madeenaty is trained by the partnership of David Hayes, Ben Hayes and Tom Dabernig who are having a great season with two-year-olds.

“I am surprised Madeenaty is being ignored by pundits as she has the inside barrier and we have added winkers to her race gear,” David Hayes said.

The Hayes family has also tasted success in the Magic Millions Classic with David’s late brother Peter winning the race with Catnipped in 1998.
