Mackay horse betting tips
Thursday racing in Queensland heads to the Sugar City of Mackay for an eight-part card out of Ooralea Park. The track is rated a Good 4, the rail is in the true position for the entire circumference of the track and the first race is set to jump at 1:21pm local time.
Darryl Johnson’s classy gelding resumes from a 136-day break in a cracking three-year-old race. Last campaign he won three in a row before finishing 6.5 lengths off Kisukano at the Sunshine Coast in his last run. He was an impressive victor at this track back in June, defeating subsequent winners Starfilly, Dacxi Kaboom, Imali and Real Ana. From barrier six, he should show enough early speed to muster, get outside the leader and prove too good in the straight.
So You Dream lines up in what certainly isn’t the strongest open handicap that you’ll see in North Queensland. Chelsea Jokic and Andrew Cameron combine again after running second on the six-year-old gelding last start at Townsville, and they’ll be hoping to go one better at a track where he admittedly doesn’t do his best racing. He’s rock-hard fit and maps to get the lead all to himself over the 1300m trip, so he should be hard to catch.
It took six-year-old grey mare Annmarie 41 starts to break her maiden, but she did it in impressive fashion at this track and trip two weeks ago. She has been racing well this preparation and drops 5kg from her last run as she moves into a Benchmark 58 race. Chelsea Jokic hops aboard for Ian Shaw and should guide the mare to victory from barrier eight. She can go back-to-back in this.
