Mackay will play host to eight races on Friday afternoon on what is a standalone meeting in Queensland. The track is rated a Good 4 and the rail is out 3m for the entire circumference of the course. Horsebetting.com.au brings you our best bets, value picks and quaddie numbers for the eight race program which is set to jump at 12:07pm.

Best Bet – #2 Kashkar

In what is one of the better races of the afternoon between 11 two-year-olds, we see the return of Fred Smith’s promising filly, Kashkar. The unbeaten daughter of Better Than Ready was well backed on debut and after looking like being stuck in a pocket with nowhere to go, she managed to find clear air late and still win by 3.5 lengths. She then went around as an odds on favourite and duly saluted against one of Central Queensland’s better two-year-olds in Yarralinda which looks to be good form for this. She won a trial at Rockhampton in the lead up to this and looks ready to go first-up against some tough opponents. From the inside alley with Ash Butler on board, she should be in a forward enough spot to be competitive and able to win again.

Next Best – #1 The Egyptian

We were with The Egyptian last start and after getting further back than we expected, he managed to grab second, beaten a long-neck. The son of The Factor won well at this track and distance two starts ago in the same grade, and although he has to carry 61kg, he does face easier opposition and there is less speed engaged here so he should be able to find the front if he can jump cleanly from barrier seven under Butler. He can bounce back in this and offers some nice value with racing betting sites.

Best Value – #6 Coop’s Star

Jared Wehlow’s five-year-old mare Coop’s Star only broke through at start six just two starts ago, but that was in her North Queensland debut and she has since finished third to Captain Fox and Collombatti over 1100m at this track. She rises an extra 100m and gets Ryan Wiggins back in the saddle which is an advantage given he got everything out of her to win two starts back. Her third place effort came in Class 1 grade, so this Benchmark 0-55 should be as easy, if not easier. From barrier one, Wiggins should have her in a nice spot just off the speed and be able to make a run at the right time.
