Parry Sound is the $3.80 favourite for the 2000m event, with Polly Grey and Grey Lion sharing the second line of betting at $7 with racing bookmakers. Knight’s Order and Wu Gok will be the speed influences in the race, while Looks Like Elvis, Mr Marathon Man and Grey Lion will be just in behind the speed. Lord Mayors Cup betting tips

This race has us scratching our heads and left us with very little confidence, so we are going to go a bit wider and hope to find some value on an each-way basis. One runner right down the bottom of the field is Joseph Pride’s Stockman. The four-year-old son of Tavistock has won four of 17 starts and placed in a further six, including all three of his runs at this track. He has had three runs back this time in and has been in and around the money finishing midfield his last two. The gelding’s last start sixth came in the Gosford Cup where he carried the same weight as he does here, and he meets the likes of Polly Grey and Wu Gok much better off at the weights. He will get back off a decent tempo and be finishing strongly.

Four-year-old mare Amica is another consistent galloper, winning five of her 15 starts. While she has not won this prep, she did finish fourth in The Wave behind Paradee and Frosty Rocks on the Gold Coast and has since gone close at Group 2 level. She is on the seven day back-up on Saturday after finishing fifth to QLD Derby chance Achiever at this track and trip, so we expect her to benefit from the 5.5kg weight relief she receives here with fitness in her legs. Robbie Dolan can have her in a nice spot from barrier 11 and be there at the end.

Looks Like Elvis never runs a bad race as he has shown in his last couple of starts after placing fourth in the Hawkesbury Cup and second in the Scone Cup at Group 3 and Listed level respectively. The six-year-old son of All American gets out to the 2000m which looks to suit him at this stage of his campaign, and he gets back to Rosehill where he has placed at Group 2 level in the past. If Andrew Adkins can navigate a decent path from barrier 14, he will be right in this.
