Long-range plan for Miss Exfactor
Trainer Tony Gollan is thinking ahead with Miss Exfactor, one of his runners at Doomben.
Smart filly Miss Exfactor will take another step in a long-range plan when she runs at Doomben.
The Tony Gollan-trained filly will be attempting to make it three wins on end since a spell when she tackles Saturday’s 3YO Handicap (1100m).
Miss Exfactor had been entered for Sydney and Brisbane but Gollan elected to stay at home.
Gollan has taken his time with Miss Exfactor who has won four races and been minor placed three times in seven starts.
“I have always thought she would make stakes grade but she wasn’t the type you can rush,” he said.
“Her two wins from a spell have been in midweek class but she is ready to take the next step now to Saturdays.”
Gollan said he hadn’t made up his mind which way to go with the filly after Saturday.
“I have plenty of options but it is a good race and will be a nice test for her,” Gollan said.
“The long-term plan is to tackle the mares stakes races with her in the summer.”
“She does like wet tracks and when she can get her toe in the track she is always hard to beat.”
Miss Exfactor has already proved a good money spinner for Brisbane’s premier stable with earnings of $160,000, well over her purchase price of $65,000.
“I think if things go right she can earn a lot more than that,” Gollan said.
