Limited runners for Gollan

Tony Gollan isn’t boasting a large amount of runners heading into the weekend.

After producing a possible star at the midweek meeting, premier Brisbane trainer Tony Gollan will have a limited team at the Sunshine Coast feature meeting likely to be run on a wet track.

The Gollan-trained youngster Zoustyle ran 1.03.45 seconds on a soft track to win a two-year-old maiden over 1100m at Doomben on Wednesday.

It is extremely rare for two-year-olds to get under 1.04 for the Doomben 1100m and it took nearly a second off the old time.

Gollan said Zoustyle could be something special as his only serious hit-out had been on a dirt track in a trial.

“The last horse I was forced to trial on the dirt was Spirit Of Boom who went on to win two Group One races. Mind you he got beaten at his first start when he ran second,” Gollan said.

“I think Zoustyle could be something special but I have learned the hard way not to get carried away, so we will take things slowly.”

Gollan accepted with I’m A Rippa (Glasshouse Handicap), My Girl Hayley (XXXX Open), Tiyatrolani (XXXX Open), and Jetsonic (Provincial Sprint Series), Jetsonic (Benchmark 80) and Lord Coconuts (Benchmark 75) at Caloundra on Saturday.

Rain this week on the Sunshine Coast means the track was heavy on race eve.

“I wont run I’m A Rippa, Tiyatrolani, or My Girl Hayley on anything worse than a soft six,” Gollan said.

Gollan has also turned out top sprinter Most Important who had been nominated for the Glasshouse.

“He is another who doesn’t like wet tracks so he can spell and come back for the summer,” Gollan said.
