Kyneton race betting preview – March, 29

Racing is back on a Monday afternoon in Victoria when an eight race card is scheduled on Monday at Kyneton. The track is heavily rain affected after the recent deluge and despite the track coming up a Heavy 9, we do expect to be racing on a Soft 7 early on the card at Kyneton on Monday. The rail is out 6m the entire circuit so it may pay to be up on the pace throughout the meeting which gets underway at 1:30pm AEDT.

Best Bet: Ethekwini

On the back of a nine week freshen up, the Danny O’Brien trained Ethekwini looks well placed to break her maiden at start five come Monday afternoon. Having had three runner up performances from her four career starts it shows she has what it takes to be competitive in a maiden like this. She looked to have broken her maiden at Geelong back on January 24, when she hit the front with 200m to go, but it took a massive turn of foot from a handy midweek runner to run her down in the shadows of the winning post. From barrier three, expect John Allen to have the Savabeel filly placed perfectly and with a well timed run we expect her to account for this field with ease.

Best BetRace 1 – Ethekwini (#7) $1.90 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Porky Pine

The Hanna Powell-trained Porky Pine was a tough winner at Kilmore two runs back on February 25 when taking up a front running role and putting a decent gap between him and the runner up. This looks no harder a race than that win from two starts back, and despite finishing two and a half lengths of the eventual last time out it was not a horrible run. Having drawn nicely in barrier three and speed drawn underneath him, Zac Spain should lob Porky Pine in a handy position once settled. If given a touch of luck over the concluding stages of the 1118m then he should be charging home to record a second win from his past three starts. It certainly helps that a nice price is on offer for Porky Pine to get the job done.

Next BestRace 7 – Mishani Conman (#6) $9.50 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Cuffe’s Grange

Fresh off a four month spell, the Gerald Egan trained Cuffe’s Grange looks set to take up the running throughout the second leg of the quaddie. Aided by the 2kg claim of apprentice Logan McNeil we expect the use of barrier two to be a huge advantage for Turffontein gelding who will be having his fourth career start on Monday. Prior to heading for a spell he was an impressive winner when getting off the canvas in a handy form race. In a race that lacks a bit of early speed if Cuffe’s Grange can get a quiet time out in front he could prove hard to run down.

Best ValueRace 6 – Cuffe’s Grange (#2) $8.00 with Sportsbet
