Kilmore horse betting preview – February 4, 2021
Kilmore will host the first of two meetings in Victoria on Thursday afternoon with eight races. The track has come up as a Soft 5, the rail is out 5m, and history shows it is no disadvantage to be up on speed under these conditions at Kilmore. With clear skies forecasted, an upgrade to a Good 4 should come early in the meeting. The first at Kilmore is set to jump 1:30pm AEDT.
Best Bet: Greatness Awaits
Leon & Troy Corstens-trained Greatness Awaits broke through for an impressive maiden victory at Yarra Valley on January 13 and looks capable of stringing together consecutive victories. He draws to do no work from the rails here, as he did at Yarra Valley, and if given the same ride by Lachie King as he was given by Jamie Mott, the pair should be hard to hold out in the last leg of the Kilmore quaddie. His run two starts back at Geelong had him finish just under three lengths behind Diamonds Inthe Sky, and if he runs to that form he should be too good for this lot.

Next Best: Overruled
The in-form Mathew Ellerton & Simon Zahra stable send Overruled to Kilmore in an attempt to break his maiden tag at start six. His last-start fourth at Pakenham had a bit of merit to it, as he was held up entering the home straight and was only beaten three-and-a-half lengths by a galloper with plenty of upside. His narrow defeat at Geelong three starts back showed he has a few wins in store, and he looks well placed to get the job done at Kilmore. He will settle just off the leader’s heels and, with a bit of luck when entering the home straight, should be hard to hold out.

Best Value: Onehundred Percent
The Mark Sues-trained Onehundred Percent looks well placed to break a run of outs that goes nearly one-and-a-half years. He gets in well at the weights with a 6kg advantage over Toorak Warrior, who looks set to go around as a fancied runner. Despite the 60kg, Campbell Rawiller should be able to settle him in a prominent position from barrier one. As long as a gap appears at the top of the home straight, this one will be hard to beat at a good each-way price.
