Kilcoy racing preview

Kilcoy hosts a rare Wednesday meeting where the rail remains in the true position. The track is currently rated a Soft 7, but a track upgrade is expected with beautiful weather predicted. Here are some of the best bets on offer at Australia’s top bookmakers.

Best BetRace 1 – Toujours L’amour (#6) $3 with Sportsbet

Toujours L’amour is a six-year-old mare who finds the right race to breakthrough after a consistent preparation.

Finishing in the placings in her last three starts, the daughter of Love Conquers All has run alongside Jaydee Indy, Explosive Quality and He’s The News, who have all been racing extremely well this preparation.

In a strong indication of intent from the stable and jockey, Michael Hellyer heads to Kilcoy for just the one ride on the day and should land on speed from barrier six.

Deserving of a breakthrough win after a consistent preparation, Toujours L’amour looks well placed as the best bet of the day.

Next BestRace 5 – Royal Sheen (#1) $2.05 with Sportsbet

The Chris Munce-trained gelding has returned in fantastic fashion this preparation and finds the perfect race to breakthrough third up from a spell.

After finishing two lengths off the talented Rising Star, who has since franked the form with strong runs in town, the four-year-old son of Top Echelon was only nailed late on the line at the Gold Coast last start.

Senior rider Brad Stewart has been booked to climb aboard at the expense of Michael Murphy, and he looms to settle midfield off the fence having drawn barrier seven.

Royal Sheen has returned a more consistent racehorse this preparation and looks one of the horses to follow on the Kilcoy card.

Best ValueRace 7 – Suzi Bel (#5) $3.40 with Sportsbet

A horse which often saves her best for Rockhampton, Suzi Bel has drawn well and looks over the odds after a good win last start.

After a strong performance when finishing midfield behind the talented Lady Brahmos at the Sunshine Coast two starts back, the five-year-old daughter of Drumbeats was extremely brave at Rockhampton over 1100m when sustaining a long run home to hold off her competition.

Apprentice Kate Cowan takes the ride and gets the mare’s weight down to 57.5kg, while the draw in barrier three will allow them to settle behind the speed.

In a race that has so many question marks surrounding the leading contenders, Suzi Bel looks well placed to record consecutive victories.
