Kembla Grange horse betting preview
It’s Kembla Grange’s turn to host metro racing in New South Wales on Saturday, headlined by the $1,000,000 The Gong. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail is in the true position. Race 1 will jump at 1pm local time.
Race 5 – Big Parade (#2)Mark Newnham and Josh Parr combine in the fifth with the consistent Big Parade. A winner of three from seven, the son of Deep Field lines up fresh off a break that has been kicked off by two comfortable trial wins. Last campaign culminated in a 5.5L romping at Canterbury, where he carried 1kg more than what he will on Saturday. From the wide alley, the gelding will look to lead and make every post a winner. His first-up record is good, as is his 1200m form. Pandemic is clearly his main danger, but we question his credentials at six furlongs.
Race 1 – Atlantic King (#3)The lightly raced Atlantic King put the writing on the wall first up at Kensington when third to Enchanted Heart, before coming out and winning well over a mile at Randwick on Melbourne Cup Day last start. The gelding has always shown ability, and it is good to see him finally producing what we thought he was capable of. His last-start victory suggested he can go on with it, and with Jason Collett staying on, we think he will be hard to beat. This is tougher, but he has plenty of upside.
Race 8 – Ulusaba (#11)We may not forgive ourselves for tipping Ulusaba here, but we envisage the five-year-old gelding getting away with blue murder out in front. Third up, staying at the mile, on the seven-day backup and down 5kg in weight should see him rock-hard fit against a number of horses who are either resuming, second up or coming to the end of their spring campaigns. From barrier six, good front-running rider Winona Costin will take the son of Exceed And Excel forward and should prove hard to catch. Ulusaba finished third to Super last weekend at Newcastle when he didn’t get it his own way in front, but he can make every post a winner in this if Waterhouse & Bott have him right.
