First Race | 1:30pm AEST |
HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents you with his best bets and quaddie numbers for the six-race meeting which will be run and won at Kembla Grange on Tuesday afternoon. Currently, the track is rated a Heavy 10, while the rail is out 5m from the 1100m to the winning post, and then out just 3m for the remainder of the course. Race 1 is scheduled to jump at 1:30pm AEST.
Best Bet at Kembla Grange – Strombus
Strombus was a good winner two starts ago at Newcastle on a Heavy 10 and then just left himself with too much to do at that same track over 1400m in his most recent outing. The John O’Shea-trained three-year-old gelding was dominant when winning on the wet track, so we are expecting him to grow a leg back on a bottomless Kembla Grange track on Tuesday over the 1400m again. The son of Territories has to lug 60kg and jump from a wide alley (11), but his wet form is superior so we are expecting a return to form.
Next Best at Kembla Grange – Poetic Drama
Team Hawkes and Brock Ryan combine in the penultimate with three-year-old filly Poetic Drama. The daughter of Proisir is yet to win in six career starts, but she finds a very winnable maiden on Tuesday afternoon over 1400m. Having only placed once in her career, Poetic Drama looks primed to break her maiden over 1400m from a nice barrier (7). Ryan can be midfield with cover on the three-year-old and give this horse a brilliant winning chance.

Best Value at Kembla Grange – King Kapa
King Kapa has always shown a fair bit of potential, running some very good races behind the likes of Prince Of Boom, Smirnova and Zarastro. The Joseph Pride-trained three-year-old was good first-up when fifth behind the in-form Athelric at Warwick Farm over 1000m. The son of Capitalist now steps out to 1200m, comes back to Class 1 company, and while he does rise 6.5kg in weight, he finds himself in a much weaker race. The gelding’s only win to date was on debut at Grafton when on a Soft 5, while he ran fourth at Group 2 level in his second start 12 months ago on a Soft 7, so the heavy surface should be to his liking. Sam Clipperton can get him home from the five alley.
