Kathy O’Hara on the mend after fall

Kathy O’Hara expects to be back riding within a few weeks with her injuries from a fall at Randwick not as serious as first feared.

O’Hara came off Single Gaze on the home turn in Saturday’s Australian Oaks.

She was taken to hospital amid concerns she had broken her collarbone and ribs as well as sustaining a punctured lung when Single Gaze landed on top of her.

O’Hara has since been cleared of serious breaks and has a small fracture of the collarbone which is unlikely to require surgery.

Racing NSW doctor David Duckworth said the punctured lung had been drained and depending on X-rays O’Hara could be discharged on Monday.

Single Gaze, the Vinery Stud Stakes winner, escaped with minor lacerations.

An inquiry into the incident has been delayed until O’Hara is able to attend.
