Feature Race Group 2 Karrakatta Plate – Race 8

It is Karrakatta Plate race day on Saturday when Ascot hosts an action-packed nine race under clear Autumn skies. The track is rated a Good 4 for the meeting and with the rail out 2m the entire circuit we expect a quality day of racing out west getting underway at 12:23pm AWST.

Karrakatta Plate Tips – Race 8

The Group 2 Karrakatta Plate for two-year-olds is the featured event on Ascot’s nine race card. The return of Storm Whisper in the Listed Perth Stakes suggests he is in this right up to his nostrils, despite failing to wear down the leader He’s Gold, who he goes up against again on Saturday. The Neville Parnham-trained son of Snippetson will appreciate jumping from barrier 5 and should not need to burn too much energy getting to a leading role throughout the run. Storm Whisper has two runner up performances from two starts at Ascot, but the step up to 1200m for the first time in his career looks ideal.

Best Bet Of The Day: #6 Clairvoyance

Saturday marks the return of one of Perth’s most exciting sprinters Clairvoyance, who makes a return to the race track fresh off a near six month spell. The Nostradamus filly has had four starts and is yet to taste defeat in her career, and looks well placed to make it five from five. The Darren Mcauliffe-trained filly has trialled up in fine fashion at Lark Hill on March 22 when defeating her rivals comfortably under a hold. From barrier five we expect her to make her way to the rail and take up the running under a well rated ride from Chris Parnham who has been on the back of Clairvoyance her whole career.

Next Best Of The Day: #9 Pletto

Ben Pearce and William Pike team up in the opening leg of the quaddie with the last start winner Pletto. With Pike having tasted success already on board the Playing God mare, we expect another victory is on the cards having drawn nicely in barrier two. Pletto saluted as an odds-on pop over the 1400m here at Ascot, and looks perfectly capable of handling the rise up to 1500m on Saturday afternoon. In a similar field that she beat here on March 20, the 2.5kg weight drop looks to be the perfect recipe for consecutive victories.
