Melbourne Cup runner-up Prince Of Arran has been confirmed for the Japan Cup.

Australia’s favourite English horse, Melbourne Cup runner-up Prince Of Arran, will extend his world travels to include the Japan Cup.

Trainer Charlie Fellowes has confirmed the dual Melbourne Cup placegetter will have his next start in Tokyo on November 24 with the Hong Kong Vase at the International meeting in December still on his agenda.

Prince Of Arran enjoyed another fruitful Australian spring with a second in the Group Two Herbert Power and victory in the Group Three Geelong Cup before Tuesday’s Melbourne Cup.

Originally third in the Melbourne Cup, Prince Of Arran was elevated after a successful stewards protest which resulted in Master Of Reality being demoted to fourth.

Immediately after the race, Fellowes was approached by Japanese officials with a formal invitation to the Japan Cup which has now been accepted.

“Looks like PRINCE OF ARRAN is going to get a new stamp in his passport. His next start will be in the Japan Cup on Sunday 24th November. He has come through the Melbourne Cup perfectly and will fly to Tokyo on Monday” Fellowes said on Twitter.

The trainer said connections had not yet booked a jockey for the rich race in Japan.

Michael Walker has ridden Prince Of Arran in his six Australian starts which include a third in last year’s Herbert Power followed by his Lexus Stakes win and Melbourne Cup third.
