Jamaican Rain a late Flemington scratching

Stewards have withdrawn a favourite from a support race on the Melbourne Cup day program.

Jamaican Rain has been taken out of the Group Three Jim Beam Stakes after Racing Victoria’s Compliance Assurance team visited Richard Laming’s Cranbourne stable on Tuesday morning.

The mare was found to have a knee injury and was scratched after stewards spoke to Laming.

“The stewards are currently awaiting a report from the CAT to determine whether any further inquiries are required,” an RV statement said.
