Ipswich midweek racing preview

Ipswich plays host to Queensland’s metropolitan racing this Wednesday, with seven races to be run and won from 1:18pm AEST. The track is rated a Soft 6, and the rail is in the true position for the entire course. Let’s see where the value lies at Australia’s best online bookmakers.

Best BetRace 6 – Hidden Hail (#7) $2.10 with Sportsbet

Barry Lockwood and Sean Cormack combine in the sixth with talented gelding Hidden Hail. He has run second on three occasions from four career starts but was good enough to get the job done convincingly at this track last time out. That race has thrown up four subsequent winners, so it looks the right form to follow. Cormack will have to work early to get across from gate 13, but it doesn’t look to be an overly hot tempo despite the fact it’s a 1200m Class 2. The form around him suggests Hidden Hail should win this.

Best ValueRace 1 – Nashwah (#11) $6 with Sportsbet

Today’s the day for Nashwah, we hope. The three-start maiden went agonisingly close here last start after settling much closer than we anticipated under Georgie Cartwright, who stays aboard. Barrier nine will see the pair cross over and be handy again with the blinkers on. Cartwright’s 1.5kg claim sees the filly likely start at Cartwright’s minimum 53kg, which will be advantageous. Up to 1666m will only suit as Nashwah looks to break the duck at last.
