Ipswich horse racing preview – February 10, 2021
Eight races are schedule to go around at Ipswich on Wednesday, with the first set to jump at 1:03pm local time. The track is currently a Soft 5 and the rail is out +8m. Let’s take a look at the latest odds and best bets on offer at Australia’s top online bookmakers.
Best Bet: Chauffeur
David Vandyke and Ryan Maloney combine in the second with Chauffeur, who looks to be classes above these. The three-time winner comes off a five-length defeat to Jonker and Exhilarates last time out at the Gold Coast in the Magic Millions Sprint, and prior to that he was beaten by Roheryn at Listed level. This is an extreme drop in grade to Class 3, while he gets out to 1350m and only has to carry 59kg. He has drawn wide in the field of six but shouldn’t be too far away in the run and ought to be way too good for them.
Race 2 – Chauffeur (#1)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361087_02]
Next Best: Tilly’s Star
Matthew Dunn saddles up the two main chances in race six, but we are confident his mare Tilly’s Star can get the better of male stablemate Cane Cutter. The four-year-old has now won two straight, including a win at this track and distance last time out. She rises 3.5kg in this but retains the services of Emily Atkinson, who has partnered her at her last two outings. While she doesn’t win by far, she has the will to win in her veins, and she maps beautifully to make it a hat-trick on Wednesday from barrier five.
Race 6 – Tilly’s Star (#1)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361087_06]
Best Value: Classic Pearl
Rob Heathcote and Taylor Marshall combine in the fourth race with Classic Pearl. The five-year-old mare will be suited by the rise to 2200m as she looks to get it all her own way in front from gate two. She placed over 1600m back in December and has since run reasonably well in three goes without winning, with her best effort coming last time out at Gatton. She has placed at this track and trip before and will appreciate the cut out of the ground. As long as there are eight runners come race start, we are happy to be on each way.
Race 4 – Classic Pearl (#5)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1361087_04]
