When Wednesday, April 21, 2021
First Race 12:18pm AEST

Queensland metropolitan racing heads to Ipswich on Wednesday for an eight-part card that kicks off at 12:18pm AEST. The track is rated a Soft 5, and the rail is out 2.5m for the entire circumference of the course. HorseBetting.com.au brings you the best bets and quaddie numbers for the midweek meeting.

Best Bet: Orbisyn

David Vandyke and Ryan Maloney combine in the second with debut winner Orbisyn. The son of Rich Enuff was heavily backed on debut at Doomben and duly saluted for punters, racing away to win by two lengths. That run came on a Soft 7, so if the track remains a Soft 5 on Wednesday, we know he will handle the sting out. He has drawn wide here in eight of 10, but Maloney can take him forward to settle in the first pair or two. Back him to win, and include #3 and #4 in exotics.

Best BetRace 2 – Orbisyn (#7) $1.95 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Brandwood

Georgie Cartwright has built a good relationship with the Tony Gollan-trained Brandwood, partnering the gelding in both of his starts for a pair of wins. The three-year-old would have been a good thing beaten on debut, but he got the late split to win in a photo. He then stepped out to 1350m, where he won by nearly two lengths on a Heavy 9. Cartwright will take the son of Epaulette forward from barrier five and look to be in the one-one early on before stoking him up in the straight. He looks a handy galloper, so let’s hope he isn’t just a wet-track bully.

Next BestRace 4 – Brandwood (#1) $2.80 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Grand Zou

Toby & Trent Edmonds saddle up four-year-old Zoustar gelding Grand Zou on Wednesday in what looks a winnable race to round out the card. He is now second up after a solid-enough fourth to the talented Skins at Doomben on March 31, and while he hasn’t won second up before, he should be fitter for that run. The gelding holds a great record at Ipswich with two wins and a second from three starts, with both of those wins coming over the 1350m journey which he faces here. The wide gate makes it awkward, but we can trust Robbie Fradd to get the job done.

Best BetRace 8 – Grand Zou (#2) $12 with Sportsbet
