As of the 2022/23 racing season, the Inglis Race Series will be boosted by $1.55 million, which includes a $1m Inglis Pink Bonus Series.

The announcement comes just in time for this weekend’s Inglis Classic Yearling Sale, as horses purchased with a minimum of 75% female owners will be eligible for the incentive.

Qualified ownership groups will have their horses running for the $1m Pink Bonus prizemoney, which sees up to $400,000 in bonuses on offer in each of the four designated races:

  • Inglis Millennium – $400,000 bonus to the first eligible horse home
  • Inglis Sprint – $200,000 bonus to the first eligible horse home
  • Inglis Banner – $200,000 bonus to the first eligible horse home
  • Inglis Nursery – $200,000 bonus to the first eligible horse home

On top of the Pink Bonus, multiple races throughout the Inglis carnival will receive significant prizemoney boosts, which sees the Inglis Sprint now worth $1 million:

  • Inglis Sprint – increase from $750,000 to $1,000,000
  • Inglis Banner – increase from $400,000 to $500,000
  • Inglis Nursery – increase from $400,000 to $500,000
  • Inglis Bracelet – increase from $250,000 to $350,000

These changes will come into effect for the race day in 2023, with Inglis Bloodstock chief executive Sebastian Hutch hoping to “service existing owners” as well as enticing new owners in 2022.

“We work to service existing owners throughout the year, as well as engaging and developing new participants, it’s a fundamental part of our business and we have been working on suitable incentives to complement that work for some time,” Hutch said.

“Australia is the envy of the bloodstock world and with the sport being more accessible than ever and the ownership base growing and growing, we wanted to create further incentives for people to participate.

“There has been a significant growth in the volume of female racehorse ownership – 12 of the runners in the Millennium in 2021 had female owners – and we feel that this bonus series has the capacity not just to further reward those existing owners but stimulate greater involvement.

“With the Pink Bonus Series, the first registered horse to finish, no matter where it finishes, in each of the Millennium, Sprint, Banner or Nursery, will each win a massive bonus.

“The Inglis Race Series has produced any number of outstanding horses in recent years like Nature Strip, She Will Reign, Extreme Choice, Castelvecchio, Mossfun, Hellbent, Wild Ruler etc and I’m sure there will be many more to come, including those with Pink Bonus ownership.

“The Series showcases the very best of Australian racing, giving owners opportunities to win big prizemoney across the calendar year and enjoying the thrill of racing at some of Australia’s most iconic tracks in Royal Randwick, Flemington, Moonee Valley and Scone at the heart of the Hunter Valley.”

The $2 million Inglis Millennium (1100m) will be run at Royal Randwick this Saturday, February 5, with online bookmakers installing Sejardan as a $3.50 favourite ahead of Paris Dior and Metallicity.

Quality horses have won the two-year-old race since its inception three years ago, with Castelvecchio (2019), Prime Star (2020) and Profiteer (2021) all going on to bigger and better things.
