Hugh Bowman’s NSW appeal date set

Hugh Bowman is appealing a careless riding ban.

Hugh Bowman’s bid to have a suspension reduced so he can ride Winx in her return will be heard by the Racing NSW Appeal Panel but he still has to confirm a date for another appeal in New Zealand.

Bowman was outed in Sydney at last Friday’s Warwick Farm meeting and he was hit with another at Ellerslie the following day.

The NSW judiciary body will hear Bowman’s appeal on Monday at 11am with Winx scheduled to have her second barrier trial of the preparation earlier that morning.

The champion is expected to return in the Group Two Apollo Stakes at Randwick on February 17.

After having the dates of his Sydney suspension brought forward, Bowman had hoped any penalty from the New Zealand race would end before Winx raced.

But the New Zealand stewards outed the jockey until February 21.

Bowman has ridden Winx to 20 wins including all 15 of her Group One victories which include three Cox Plates.
