First Race 1:27pm AEDT

Racing heads to Horsham Racecourse on Sunday afternoon, where a competitive eight-race meeting is set down for decision. The Horsham Cup, worth $60,000, is the headline event for the day. Perfect conditions are set to greet punters, with the track most likely set to begin as a Good 4, with the rail in its true position. Horsham Cup Day action gets underway at 1:27pm AEDT.

Horsham Cup Top Tip: Captain Envious

The Paul Presuker-trained Captain Envious was a class above in the Murtoa Cup on October 7 and gets the chance to claim consecutive country cups. The five-year-old gelding stalked the speed throughout from barrier two and when the gap appeared at the top of the straight, he put his rivals away with relative ease. Dean Yendall will most likely have this bloke settled in the second half of the field from barrier eight, but he just looks to be the best horse in the race. With even luck, Captain Envious can finish over the top of his rivals in grand fashion.

Best Bet at Horsham: Stripped Back

The Lindsey Smith-trained Stripped Back was a smart winner at Bendigo on September 27 and looks to have found the right race once again. Having been forced to travel three wide with no cover up on speed, the son of Turffontein managed to kick clear of his rivals late to suggest the penny may have dropped. He had been competitive in harder races but continued to do things wrong in running. With better racing manners and the want to be up on speed, Stripped Back is going to take a power of beating in the final race.

Next Best Bet at Horsham: San Marino

Brian & Ashley McKnight look to have found the right race for San Marino to bring up a fifth win at start 30. The six-year-old gelding was a dominant Horsham 1100m in similar company on September 26 and looks set to bring up another win at the track and trip on Sunday. Tayla Childs claiming 2kg gets him in with 60kg on his back and if the duo can land the one-one upon settling, it is hard to see how their rivals keep him out in the quaddie opener.
