Prior to Qeyaady’s smart win at Sandown on Saturday afternoon, Shadwell Stud had revealed that all male members of their team would be sold online in the coming weeks. Shadwell Stud are mourning the passing of their owner, Sheikh Hamdan Bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

One of Shadwell Stud’s up and coming colts, Qeeyady, was a smart all the way winner at Sandown on Saturday for the Lindsay Park team.

Co-trainer Ben Hayes had made it clear during the week leading up to his win that the Lindsay Park stable were putting together a syndicate to purchase the I Am Invincible colt.

Hayes conceded that his win in the opening event at Sandown would have potentially added another zero on to the end of his sale figure.

His win on Saturday made it back to back victories, and he received high praise from jockey Blaike McDougall.

“It is a shame it is coming to the end of the season,” McDougall stated.

Both of Qeyaady’s wins this preparation have been over 1000m, but McDougall believes the up and coming colt would take six furlongs off the speed with ease.

The win aboard Qeyaady gave McDougall his 150th winner for the season, and the 40th win for Tom Dabernig & Ben Hayes for the season in metropolitan Melbourne.

There is no doubt if Hayes and Dabernig can get their hands on the colt heading in to his three-year-old season that there would be a nice black type race in store for him during the late spring.
