After Hawkesbury hosted its feature standalone meeting on Saturday, we are back racing there again on Tuesday for eight provincial races. The racing was fair on Saturday and the rail stays in the true position for the midweek meeting, while the track will be a Good 4 again. HorseBetting.com.au brings you our best bets and value picks for the day’s races, which kick off at 12:20pm AEST.
Best Bet: Captivare
Chris Waller’s I Am Invincible gelding Captivare has lost the Coolmore Stud colours after being narrowly defeated by Outlook at Kembla Grange on April 24th, but we are confident he can breakthrough in his new silks. After placing in his last three starts, he looks beautifully placed on Tuesday with Tommy Berry in the saddle from barrier eight over the 1800m journey. The three-year-old was not stretched beyond 1300m in previous campaigns, but after he fought on gamely over the mile last time out, he looks ready to go over 1800m in this. While we don’t expect him to lead, we do think he will be handy in the run, which will be advantageous at this track. This is D-day for Captivare.
Race 4 – Captivare (#4)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1368349_04]
Next Best: Good Omens
We are siding with Chris Waller again in the fifth, this time with a three-year-old filly under Tim Clark. Good Omens has only had three career starts, winning her most recent and finishing second on another occasion, so she does have that certain flare about her. By So You Think, she should appreciate getting out to 1800m for the first time given her last start victory over 1500m came by a cruisy 3.3 lengths. Clark’s booking shows an intent to lead, and with equal favourite Rock The Bells drawn outside her, Good Omens should be able to hold the front and the fence. She can go back-to-back in this Class 1.
Race 5 – Good Omens (#7)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1368349_05]
Best Value: Provide
Hopefully Tim Clark can guide Good Omens to an all-the-way win in the fifth and then finish the day off with a similar ride on Gary Portelli’s Provide. The three-year-old daughter of Olympic Glory was grabbed early over a mile at Gosford on April 1st, but she has since been back to the trials and won against Open company horses over 1175m. She drops back from 1600m to the 1300m, and with a month between runs she should have the freshness in her legs to really try and break their hearts. Having drawn in the middle of the line, Clark will push forward on Provide in a bid to guide her back into the winner’s circle.
Race 8 – Provide (#7)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1368349_08]
