Hawkesbury betting preview – Tuesday, February 9

Just the seven races are set to be run and won at Hawkesbury on Tuesday. It is currently a Soft 5 there and the rail is in the true position. The first field is scheduled to face the starter at 1:50pm local time.

Best Bet: Never Second

Zoustar filly Never Second will be looking to remain undefeated at start two on Tuesday when she resumes in an 1100m Class 1 Handicap. The Matthew Vella-trained three-year-old was a 1.75-length winner on debut at Gosford back in October and has since trialled well at Rosehill to win by a little under a length. Drawn in barrier four under Rachel King, she will be in the box seat, biding her time and looking to savage the line late.

Best BetRace 5 – Never Second (#11) $2.85 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Green Kudos

Matthew Dunn saddles up Green Kudos in an 1100m Maiden Plate. The four-year-old gelding has had just the two career starts, with his most recent a solid second to Paper Daisy, who contested the Inglis Millennium on Saturday. While he was no match for her, he stuck on well and gapped the rest of the field by one length. From barrier 10, Nash Rawiller will take the gelding forward and look to get the maiden out of the way.

Best Value: Main Stage

Gwenda Markwell and Tyler Schiller combine in the last with one-time Victoria Derby fifth-placegetter Main Stage. While the son of Reliable Man has now had three runs for his new trainer without a win, he has not been beaten too far in any of them. He drops back slightly to 1800m and is drawn in the carpark (19), but the 2kg claim is advantageous and there looks to be enough speed in the race to allow him to get back and run on. He hasn’t won since May 2019, but that one-length victory over Master of Wine indicated a touch of class. If he can produce his best, he can figure in the finish.

Best ValueRace 7 – Main Stage (#2) $9 with Sportsbet
