Hawkesbury horse betting preview

A small seven-race card is set down for judgement on Thursday afternoon at Hawkesbury. Competitive fields look to be the story of the day, with not many short-priced favourites going around. The track has come up a Good 4, the rail in the true position throughout, and we are set fair for a solid card of midweek racing. The first race is set to jump at 2:10pm AEDT.

Best BetRace 6 – Traminer (#1) Get the best odds

The Snowden team will be hoping that the appointment of Sam Clipperton can get Traminer back to winning ways for the first time since his debut success at Bendigo almost two-and-a-half years ago. In fairness, he had a brief stint over in Hong Kong, and his two return runs at Gosford were full of merit when finding another one better on both occasions. He is yet to miss a placing in four career starts, and recent form suggests he’ll be difficult to hold out in the penultimate race on the card.

Next BestRace 3 – Kibosh (#3) Get the best odds

John Thompson and Rachel King team up to try and go one better with this 3YO filly, who is off an impressive second last time out at Kembla Grange. Despite having the whole home straight to go past the winner, she just kept battling away to go down by a head on the line. That effort was on a Heavy 8, and she should relish getting back onto a firmer track for this assignment. As long as she can slot in from the wide barrier, Kibosh should be fighting out the finish here.

Best ValueRace 5 – Mo The Great (#2) Get the best odds

Kim Waugh’s 7YO gelding has gone over a year without a win but strikes a winnable race here at Hawkesbury. He has been successful at the track in the past and drops a kilogram off his last start at Kempsey. He maps to be up on speed from barrier two, which is rarely a disadvantage at Hawkesbury, and considering all four of his career wins have come on Good-rated tracks, he should be right there in the finish.
