Hawkesbury racing preview
Eight races will be run and won at Hawkesbury from 12:25pm AEDT on Thursday. The track is currently rated a Soft 5, while the rail is out +3.5m from the 1100m-450m and true for the remainder of the course. It looks a fairly tough day at the office with a number of genuine winning chances in each race, so we will try our best to find you the value as always.
Kris Lees and the in-form Jason Collett combine in the fourth with this three-year-old maiden. Having raced in only three races, the gelded son of Pride Of Dubai was unlucky not to breakthrough last time when beaten less than 0.75L to run third. He was first up on that occasion, so he should be better for the run and may appreciate the rise to 1300m. Jumping out of barrier two looks advantageous and should allow Collett to box seat and pull away in the cutaway at the 450m mark. Sian ran fourth at his only previous start at this track, and that race has thrown up five subsequent winners, so we are keen to be on him here.

Bjorn Baker’s Malkovich might be the shortest favourite of the day, but he looks the perfect way to get out in the last. He debuted in last year’s Golden Gift, which has delivered 11 subsequent winners including Dame Giselle. He then had 41 weeks off the scene before winning two trials by a cumulative 6L. First up, he was nabbed right on the line to run third in a three-way photo finish, before winning by 4.5L at Wyong second up. At his latest start he was just edged out by Ballistic Lover at Warwick Farm, but he spaced the rest to suggest the first two past the post were above average. Rachel King will lead from gate three, and Malkovich should be too good for them.
