Best Bet: Defecit

The Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou-trained Defecit comes to Hawkesbury looking to break his maiden at his third career start. The two-year-old Snitzel colt was an eye-catcher when running into third at Gosford on May 27 after making up substantial ground in the home straight. We expect Keegan Latham to have him settled in the second half of the field and in the small field of eight, he should not be too far from the speed throughout. If he lets down with the turn of foot he showed at Gosford, he should be too strong for this field over the concluding stages and bring up a deserved maiden win.

Best BetRace 2 – Defecit (#3) $2.30 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Exterminate

We will be hoping it is 23rd time lucky for the Tim McIntosh-trained Exterminate when steps out at Hawkesbury on Sunday. He has eight minor place efforts to his name and despite being rolled as a $2.10 favourite at Wyong on June 3, he looks to be the one to beat. He has shown in the past to be tactically versatile, but seemingly does his best racing when settling in the second half of the field and charging home. In a field of eight, he should not be too far away from the speed and if he brings his best form, he simply finishes over the top of this field which seemingly lacks depth.

Next BestRace 3 – Exterminate (#7) $2.70 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Chervil

Jason Coyle saddles up his four-year-old mare Chervil who three runs back was an impressive winner at Goulburn on April 27. She is another runner who prefers to get back in the running and charge home late and if the track is playing fairly on Sunday, she is in this up to her eyeballs. Her only two wins in her career have come at the 1000m which she gets back to on Sunday and will look to remain undefeated at the distance. Jess Taylor was the jockey for her win at Goulburn and she hops back onboard on Sunday and the pair look incredibly hard to hold out in the second leg of the quaddie.

Best ValueRace 6 – Chervil (#5) $8.00 with Sportsbet
