Best Bet: Aeecee Express

Sometimes it can be as easy as opening the race book and backing the first horse you see. We hope this is one of those times! Two-year-old colt Aeecee Express hasn’t been to the races before, but he has had two trials and won both in very impressive fashion. Trained by the lethal Waterhouse & Bott team and to be ridden by Tim Clark, this son of Savabeel will use his natural speed to find the front from the outside alley and dictate terms, and that should be all she wrote. His most recent trial win came over Robodira, who has run well on race day, and while his time was the slowest of the morning over the 1045m, other winners that day included Forbidden Love, Eleven Eleven, Tiger Of Malay and Billiondollarbaby. Aeecee Express can win on debut.

Next Best: Majestic Shot

Grant Allard and Jason Collett combine in the fourth with unbeaten galloper Majestic Shot. The three-year-old filly by Shooting To Win has been dominant in all four career starts to date, winning by a cumulative margin of 10.5 lengths, albeit on the country scene. She has done it all within herself and has shown plenty of versatility with wins coming from both off and on the speed, including her last-start romping at Gosford when leading all of the way with 59.5kg. She drops half a kilogram on Wednesday, and while she finds a slightly tougher race, she should get plenty of favours from gate seven.

Next Best Again: Relucent

Chris Waller and James McDonald are always a force to be reckoned with, especially at midweek meetings. They combine in the third with Relucent, who gets conditions to suit third up into his preparation. The four-year-old son of Savabeel was a VRC Derby favourite in his three-year-old season, so punters would expect to see him too slick for his rivals in a Benchmark 78 over 2100m against some weaker horses. In with 58.5kg from barrier three, McDonald will be able to box seat on the gelding before producing him at the right time in the straight. He should be peaking now.

Next Best AgainRace 3 – Relucent (#2) $2.30 with Sportsbet
