Sunday racing in New South Wales heads to Hawkesbury this weekend, with eight races scheduled. HorseBetting’s New South Wales racing analyst presents his best bets and quaddie numbers for the program, which will be run on a Heavy 8 track. The rail is out 2m from the 1300m to the 1100m, 4m from the 1100m to the 450m and 2m from the 450m to the winning post. The meeting is scheduled to get underway at 12pm AEST.
Best Bet at Hawkesbury – King Adviso
Mark Newnham’s three-year-old gelding King Adviso looks ready to win a race following two starts this preparation. The son of Animal Kingdom was plain when resuming at Warwick Farm on June 13, but he hit back with a strong runner-up performance at this track and distance last start on June 30. The chestnut is now third-up and staying at 1300m, so he should be rock-hard fit and ready to lead this maiden field a merry dance. Tom Sherry will search for the pilot’s seat from barrier five, control the race from the front and give them something to run down in the straight. This is the right race for King Adviso.

Next Best at Hawkesbury – Affidavit
In the following race (6), James Cummings and the in-form Jason Collett combine with last-start winner, Affidavit. The two-year-old by Frosted had strong formlines through Lady Laguna, Williamsburg and Robusto from his first preparation, which he was able to capitalise on in his first-up run when beating home our ‘Best Bet’, King Adviso by 1.4 lengths on June 30. He played the stalking role on that occasion, and despite the wider barrier (10) this time around, we expect him to have a similar position in the run. While the heavy track is a genuine concern, he should be much fitter second-up and he should be a bit more mature this time around compared to his first racing prep when failing on a Heavy 10 track.

Best Value at Hawkesbury – Canyonero
On his day, the Richard Litt-trained Canyonero would be too classy in a Benchmark 64 at Hawkesbury. The six-year-old gelding has had more than 50 starts, finishing in the top three on 25 separate occasions, with one win and one placing at this track. The son of Pierro has a good record on soft tracks, so he should appreciate the sting out of the track, while the drop back to provincial level should help. Although Canyonero’s form of late has been lacklustre, his best form – should he find it – is good enough. William Pike can get the best out of this six-times winner.
