The track is rated Soft 6 with the rail in the true position, and the first race is set to jump at 12:15pm AEST.

Hawkesbury Best Bet: Amungee

The Matthew Dunn-trained Amungee returns off a near six-month spell and will be looking to break her maiden tag at start five. Having finished second in four of her five runs, the Exceed And Excel filly comes to the Hawkesbury 1000m following two smart trials and looks perfectly placed to finally get her first win. From barrier four, expect Nash Rawiller to settle the three-year-old close to the speed; he may even look to take up the running and dictate terms throughout. If Amungee can get a quiet time in the lead, she has clearly shown she can fight out the finish. It is just a matter of whether she can get her nose down on the line first.

Best BetRace 2 – Amungee (#1) $3.50 with Sportsbet

Next Best at Hawkesbury: Pensara

Brad Widdup and Brenton Avdulla combine with last-start maiden winner Pensara, who reeled off impressive sectionals when coming from the rear of the field to salute at Newcastle on June 12. the four-year-old mare out of Pierro goes up to the 1600m for this her third career start and looks a clear chance in the second leg of the quaddie. With plenty of early speed engaged, she should settle towards the rear of the field and be savaging the line late.

Next BestRace 6 – Pensara (#6) $4.60 with Sportsbet

Hawkesbury Value Bet: Williams Bay

Williams Bay for Richard & Michael Freedman strikes a winnable 1000m event on her return from a four-month spell. The Capitalist filly has put together two decent trails, including a win in her last one on June 21. With two minor placings to begin her career in her initial campaign, she looks the one to be with at a nice price. Expect the in-form Jean Van Overmeire to have this two-year-old settled just off the leaders’ heels and poised to strike late.

Best ValueRace 3 – Williams Bay (#9) $7 with Sportsbet
