What Hawkesbury Races
Where Hawkesbury Race Club – 21 Racecourse Rd, Clarendon NSW 2756
When Tuesday, August 8, 2023
First Race 1:05pm AEST

Hawkesbury Race Club is the destination for provincial racing on Tuesday afternoon, with seven competitive races set down for decision. The weather looks tricky to work out, with some suggesting rainfall will hit the course proper in the lead-up to race day. We’ll take the lead and look for the track to sit somewhere in the soft range prior to the first race at 1:05 p.m. AEST. The rail is out +4m from 1100m to 450m, while the remainder of the course will sit in the true position.

Best Bet at Hawkesbury: Princess Rayaa

It’s been five starts without a win for Princess Rayaa, and she’s becoming a costly commodity for followers. She’s been beaten favourite in her last two starts, with her latest being a runner-up effort at Wyong on July 15. The daughter of Kingman seemingly takes forever to find top gear; however, with the 1500m coming at the ideal time of the preparation third-up, we believe this is the time to hop aboard the Ciaron Maher and David Eustace-trained galloper. Hopefully, she can repay the faithful on Tuesday afternoon.

Best Bet

Race 1 – Silks#3 Princess Rayaa (3)

4yo Mare | T: Ciaron Maher & David Eustace | J: Tyler Schiller (57kg)

$2.50 with PlayUp

Next Best at Hawkesbury: Kokoshnik

Kokoshnik is unfortunate to only have one win to her name heading into Tuesday and looks primed to find another winner’s cheque. She has been incredibly consistent, having made eight starts for a win and six more minor placings, including her most recent attempt at Wyong on July 15, when she lost by just a nose in the shadows of the post. You know exactly what you’re going to get from Kokoshnik on race-day, and that’s a bold effort regardless of where she lands in the run. Her chances only get bolstered by a wet deck, so if the rain does come, she’ll be a deserving favourite with online bookmakers.

Next Best

Race 4 – Silks#2 Kokoshnik (5)

4yo Mare | T: Richard & Will Freedman | J: Andrew Adkins (56.5kg)

$3.50 with Neds

Best Value at Hawkesbury: Jack Duggan

Many of the gallopers engaged in the fifth race of the program come from the same form-line at Kembla Grange on July 27. Jack Duggan is the horse we want to follow from that event after electing to take a sit on that occasion. This now five-year-old gelding is much better ridden up on speed, and with the booking of Adam Hyeronimus, we’re convinced that trainer Jason Deamer will give those exact instructions. Jack Duggan is much fitter this time around, and provided he finds the fence from gate five, he’s hard to beat.

Best Value

Race 5 – Silks#1 Jack Duggan (5)

5yo Gelding | T: Jason Deamer | J: Adam Hyeroniums (60.5kg)

$8.50 with Boombet
