Racing in the Central Districts of New Zealand this weekend is to be held at Hastings with a current track rating of soft but with not much rain forecast before then there is a good chance of a track upgrade throughout the day. The nine-race card should provide for an exciting day, with the first even jumping at 11.45am (NZST)
Best Bet at Hastings – Tightlign
The best bet of the day at Hastings comes in the very first race with the evergreen veteran Tightlign being the horse to beat. He comes in to this race off a brace of second placings, most recently at Te Rapaa fortnight ago. He is likely to take up his customary role as pacemaker although today he shouldn’t have to work as hard to get that spot. He is also reunited with 4kg claiming apprentice Crystal Lindsay who just seems to click with this fellow. He should also get the track condition that he wants and early on in the day the rails and the lead is where you want to be. A great way to kick off all multi bets.

Next Best at Hastings – Idyllic
The final event of the day is where the next best bet is found in Idyllic who set a track record at Waverley when winning back in early March, she broke 1.10 on that occasion which considering the last part of the straight is up hill and she was only a maiden, says a lot about her potential. She was given a trial after that and then finished runner up, beaten a nose, at Awapuni behind another promising type. She is still on the up and should get an uncontested lead in this field from where she can dictate terms and not be caught. With the size of the field some each-way value will also be available.
