Group-performed two-year-old Handsome Rebel has been sold and will do his future racing in Hong Kong.

The Fortuna-syndicated youngster won one of his six starts for trainers Stephen Autridge and Jamie Richards and ran third at Group 3 level in both the Phoenix Park 2YO Classic (1200m) and Reid & Harrison Slipper (1200m).

At his last appearance, the son of Denman finished fourth behind his former stablemate Avantage in the Group 1 Manawatu Sires’ Produce Stakes (1400m).

“It was an interesting process to go through,” Fortuna principal John Galvin said.

“He sold for $450,000 after we paid A$65,000 for him as a yearling.

“It was pretty compelling and 75 per cent of the syndicate approved the sale. That sort of money is hard to turn down.”

Meanwhile, multiple stakes winner Chance To Dance will shortly return to work. “He had some issues with his fetlocks and had a chip taken off his knee,” Galvin said.

“He’s had a long spell and will be back on June 1.

“We’ve set some targets for him and he’ll either resume in the Group 1 mile (the Windsor Park Stud Plate) at Hastings or alternatively the Listed mile at Counties (Karaka Classic). He’s a weight-for- age horse and we’ll progress from there.

“He’s a nine-year-old, but we saw with Who Shot Thebarman that you never write them off.”

Chance To Dance has won the Group 3 OMF Stakes (2000m) and the Listed Karaka Classic (1600m) since his purchase by Fortuna.
