Greg Bennett to join Aquis Farm
Leading Scone trainer Greg Bennett is to take up a position with Aquis Farm in Queensland as director of racehorse development.
Bennett will retire from training after The Championships in April when he is expected to play a part in the Country Championship.
“The Fung Family was delighted to have secured the services of Greg to manage the development of all the racing stock at Aquis Farm from point of purchase to retirement from racing,” Aquis Farm chief executive Justin Fung said.
“Greg’s role will be to manage and be responsible for the development, pre-training and growth of our racehorses whilst on the farm and to develop our relationships with the trainers that train for us.”
Bennett is a renowned pre-trainer and was responsible for the early education of Makybe Diva who went on to win three Melbourne Cups.
“I am sad to leave training but I am excited by the opportunity this appointment creates for me and I look forward to getting to the Gold Coast and getting into it at Aquis Farm,” Bennett said.
“But having said that I have a job to do now and that is get my owners’ horses winning races between now and the end of the Championships.”
Bennett won last year’s Country Championship Final with Clearly Innocent.
