Grafton race betting preview – March, 29

A massive ten race program will be run and won at Grafton this Monday afternoon. The track is rated a Soft 7 and the rail is out six metres from the 800m to the 400m and four and a half metrs for the remainder of the course. Horsebetting.com.au’s form analysts have crunched the numbers and have found three good bets and a Quaddie for Monday’s meeting which will jump at 12:40pm AEDT.

Best Bet: The Lioness

Trent & Toby Edmonds take three runners to Grafton on Monday, with her best chance being The Lioness in the penultimate race. The three-year-old Exosphere filly won well on debut at Forbes, before just missing at Lismore six weeks ago as a well backed favourite. Both of this fillies runs have come on a Soft 5, so she should get through the wet going without any qualms. Drawn barrier ten under Zac Lloyd who claims three kilograms, she will be put in a midfield spot, hopefully with cover, and should be able to finish too strongly.

Best BetRace 9 – The Lioness (#7) $4.00 with Sportsbet

Next Best: Group Think

Group Think lines up in a winnable Benchmark 66 over 2235m on Monday. The four-year-old son of So You Think has won just two of nineteen career starts, but has placed in a further nine starts. It has been a while between drinks for the Edward O’Rourke-trained gelding, with his last run coming back in June of 2020, but he has had six placings since and not finished outside the top four in all runs leading up to this. The gelding was a certainty beaten in a Rosehill Class 3 Highway in July which saw some decent form come from that race. This is much easier than what he has been racing in, the rise in trip will suit him down to the ground and the sting out of the track is an advantage. This is his race to lose.

Next BestRace 3 – Group Think (#1) $3.30 with Sportsbet

Best Value: Bondurant

Stephen Lee and Jake Bayliss combine in the last race of the day with Bondurant. The three-year-old son of Contributer has won one of four, with his victory coming at this track last campaign in his only run at this track. That win did come third up and at 1700m, so the 1400m first-up assignment may be a touch sharp for this gelding, but it is a winnable race nonetheless. Drawn well in barrier three, he will be able to find a prominent spot on the fence and be aided by the cutaway rail in the straight. He is right in this under Bayliss and can resume a winner.

Best ValueRace 10 – Bondurant (#10) $8.50 with Sportsbet
