Grafton racing tips & odds – Tuesday, 29 September 2020
Seven races are set down for judgement this Tuesday at Grafton in the Northern Rivers of New South Wales. The track has come up a Good 4 and the weather is set fair for what looks a competitive midweek meeting. The rail is out 4.5m, as it was when we raced here last Monday on a surface that played fair throughout.

Formerly trained by Toby Edmonds, Wave Maker will look to break his maiden at his third start overall and his first for Edward O’Rourke. He got the ultimate gear change when gelded and now has the winkers applied for the first time. He absolutely bolted in at the Murwillumbah trials a week ago and looks to have come back from his five-month spell as an improved galloper. In that trial, he looked to have barely raised a sweat when leading from box to post. If he can bring that form to Grafton, he will be hard to catch.

This former South Australian galloper trialled quite smartly last week at Murwillumbah when settling outside the leader and scoring under a hold. The 4YO mare raced consistently at metropolitan level last summer and looks set to work her way through the grades here in northern NSW. She has a third behind enigmatic sprinter Just Zerene, finishing two lengths off her when they met at Gawler. If she brings that South Australian form and follows up on her impressive trials, Autumn Splendour looks hard to go past in the second leg of the quaddie.

Having her first start for a new trainer, Madame Bonser will look to build on her consistent campaign late last year. Four starts back she was a dominant winner at Goulburn and looked like she could go on with it; however, when moved up in grade she was just OK without setting the world on fire. She will look to settle back in the field and have the last look at them. She clocked the best last 400m sectional two starts back at Kembla Grange, and that turn of foot makes her a very promising each-way play in the last at Grafton.
