The new week of racing is set to get underway at Grafton Racecourse on Monday, with a very competitive eight-race program lined up for punters. The rail is out +5.5m from the 600m to winning post, while the remainder with sit out 4.5m. The weather forecast across the weekend should see the surface stay in the Good range for race-day with the opening event scheduled to get underway at 12:50pm AEST.
Best Bet at Grafton: Nickelback
Nickelback has been a model of consistency so far this preparation and looks primed to pick up his second win of the campaign. He won two starts back at Casino on August 12 before heading to Highway company at Rosehill and was far from disgraced powering home into a third-place finish behind Melody Again. This BM66 looks much more achievable for this lightly-raced son of Nicconi, and provided he gets even luck from barrier three, Nickelback should be charging home late to score.

Mofeed showed plenty of ability on race-day debut at Grafton on August 2 and should only improve with that effort under his belt. The Stephen Lee-trained gelding hadn’t shown much in his barrier trials leading into his debut but outran his price storming between gallopers for a mid-field finish 2.4 lengths away. He needs to improve his barrier manner and maintain a spot from barrier two; however, if Jake Bayliss can get him to stalk the leaders, Mofeed should give a bold sight in the straight.

We’re more than happy to take the each-way quote on offer with online bookmakers for North Of Eli as he makes his resumption for the Matthew Dunn barn. He ran into some strong two-year-old races and even notched a win at this course and distance on April 3, beating a field which has since seen multiple winners. His latest barrier trial at Murwillumbah on August 25 caught the eye and was a terrific indicator that this son of Headwater is ready to make an impression first-up. He’s drawn awkwardly in gate 10, but if Ashley Morgan can find cover throughout the journey, look for Nort Of Eli to be flying home late.
