Grafton betting tips – Tuesday, February 2
Eight races will be run and won at Grafton on Tuesday afternoon. The track is currently a Good 4 and the rail is in the true position, which should make for a great afternoon’s racing. Race 1 is scheduled to jump at 1:15pm AEDT.
Best Bet: Plonka
Five-year-old gelding Plonka looks perfectly placed here in Open company over 1200m with 61kg on his back. The four-time winner hasn’t won since this race last year, but he placed third in his subsequent run at Rosehill in the Country Championship Final and has form around Prime Star and Big Parade since. He did get beaten comprehensively by Bugalugs at this track a week ago, but he meets his rival 2.5kg better at the weights here and the rise in trip should suit. From barrier two he will stalk the speed and should be too good for them en route to another Country Championship Final.

Next Best: Two Smokin Barrels
We were with Two Smokin Barrels in metro grade last start at Eagle Farm and he only got run down fairly late, so we are happy to stick with him here at Grafton on a Tuesday. He rises in weight here to 61kg, but Ryan Wiggins is there to ride and has won on him before, while the inside alley will allow him to lead and kick clear. This will be his first test at 2200m, but he should be able to control the race from in front. The form around him continues to stack up, which puts him a length or two above some of these dawdlers. He should lead from barrier to box in this.
Race 3 – Two Smokin Barrels (#2)[rmOC_events_list event_ids=1360387_03]
Best Value: Viking Raid
Stephen Lee and Jake Bayliss combine in the last with Viking Raid, who looks a great each-way play to end the day. He does have to lug 61kg, but he has drawn well in barrier seven to come over and dictate terms. Third up this campaign should have him peaking over 1400m, as indicated by his strong late burst last time out at Lismore when third behind El Prados. He puts himself into the race in front and will take plenty of running down.
