A seven-race card is scheduled for Sunday afternoon at Grafton racecourse for South Grafton Cup Day. HorseBetting’s New South Wales form analyst presents his Grafton best bets, top odds and quaddie selections. The meeting is set to get underway at 12:10pm AEST on a track rated a Heavy 10.

South Grafton Cup Top Tip: Hit The Target

In the featured event of the day, the South Grafton Cup, we are willing to side with the Stephen Rogers-trained Hit The Target. The six-year-old gelding was last seen finishing midfield at Newcastle on June 5 when going down as a $2.70 favourite. It is hard not to like the racing pattern for the son of Uncle Mo, as he attempts to dictate terms throughout. From barrier one under Leah Kilner, we expect the gelding to have no issue in getting to the front from the barriers and then be able to dictate the pace throughout, kicdk clear and bring up a win in the South Grafton Cup.

Grafton Best Bet: Sacred Zim

Toby and Trent Edmonds send their three-year-old colt Sacred Zim across the border to Grafton following a close-up third-placed finish at the Sunshine Coast on June 13. The I Am invincible colt has shown in the past that he does his best racing when racing up on speed and will need to go forward having drawn barrier 14 on Sunday. With Andrew Mallyon hopping on board for the first time, we expect him to go forward, set a genuine tempo over the 1005m and if he does not get trapped wide upon settling, he should simply be too good for this lot.

Grafton Best Value: Amazingly

Wayne Oakenfull saddles up his six-year-old gelding Amazingly in the opening leg of the quaddie, who looks well placed to bring up consecutive wins. He took out a BM58 at Moree on May 20 and with six weeks between runs he has clearly been aimed for this race on Sunday. From barrier one, he draws to do no work under Ben Looker and with a bit of luck at the top of the home straight, we expect the son of Starcraft to be too strong for this lot late, despite a poor wet track record.

Grafton Best ValueRace 4 – Amazingly (#4) $9 with Sportsbet
