Grafton Racecourse is scheduled to host an eight-race card on Monday afternoon and Horsebetting’s Victorian horse racing form analyst presents his best bets, quaddie numbers and odds from Australia’s leading online bookmakers. The track is rated a Good 4, with the rail out 3m the entire circuit for the meeting commencing at 12:25pm AEST.
Grafton Best Bet: Ultimate Man
In the third leg of the quaddie, the Greg Howells-trained Ultimate Man looks a clear best bet of the day, following a narrow defeat at Coffs Harbour on August 5. Having settled last on that day, she made up a tonne of ground from the rear of the field to be beaten by a half head on the line in what was an eye-catching run. Despite showing early speed throughout his career, we anticipate he will settle in the second half of the field and with a genuine tempo expected throughout, he should get the race run to suit. He showed he can hold a sustained sprint at Coffs Harbour and if he brings a similar effort here on Monday, he should prove too good for this field and bring up a deserved maiden win.
Grafton Next Best Bet: Mullumova
The Daniel Bowen-trained Mullumova comes Grafton following a second-place finish at Lismore on July 30. The Mullazem mare was unlucky in the run, getting held up in traffic until late until she hit the line nicely to claim second. She has been building to a maiden win, having placed in her last two runs and we anticipate Monday is the day she finds her way into the winner’s stall. Kirk Matheson retains the ride which is a bonus and despite the tricky barrier of barrier seven, we expect him to settle the four-year-old midfield in the moving line. With an even amount of luck on Monday we anticipate she will round the leaders up with relative ease and prove too good for this lot.
Grafton Best Value: Taikun Tommy
With a win and a third-place finish to begin this campaign, the Cathy Chapman-trained Taikun Tommy presents great value early on in the card. The six-year-old son of Primus meets his rival Rose Bouquet 1.5kg better at the weights following Rose Bouquet’s win over Taikun Tommy at Lismore on July 30. His good track form is a query having not placed in five runs on firmer going, but the effort on the Soft 5 track at Lismore suggests he is the one to be with. He was held up for a run until it was too late, before he charged home to pinch third in an eye-catching display.
