Goulburn Betting Preview – Monday, January 25 2021
Seven races will be run and won at Goulburn on Monday afternoon. The track is rated a Good 4, and the rail is in the true position for the entire circumference of the course. Race 1 is set to jump at 2pm.
Best Bet : Race 1 – Rothenburg (#2)
City class galloper Rothenburg lines up in a Class 4 to kick off the afternoon for punters where he should be mighty hard to beat. He wasn’t beaten very far by a smart one at Canberra when first-up off a break over a trip that would have no doubt been a touch short for him. Up to 1300m, second-up and drawn well in gate 4 gives him three big ticks next to his name in our book. Blaike McDougall stays aboard and will ride with 1.5kg worth of iron in his boots here which is another advantage. Class should prevail here.

Next Best : Race 2 – Linden Tree (#1)
Jason Coyle and Kathy O’Hara combine in the second with three-year-old gelding Linden Tree who is looking for back to back wins. After breaking through at Nowra last start, the Redoute’s Choice gelding will be aiming to make it win number two at start nine in a fairly average Benchmark 58. He contested some hot two-year-old races last season which saw him go around behind the likes of Return With Honour and Prague. This is more to his liking here as he should find the front from gate 3 and be too hard to catch.

Best Value : Race 7 – I Think I Can (#7)
We are tipping that Gai Waterhouse & Adrian Bott haven’t sent a runner to Goulburn just for a day out, so we are keen to back their runner in the last at an each way price. The well named daughter of So You Think has had just the one career run where she was only 5L off Linden Tree who we are keen on earlier on the program, so we have to have some respect for this filly. She stays at 1400m which will be a plus with added fitness, and she maps to get a cosy enough time of it in front under Winona Costin who will jump from barrier 9. She is bred to be competitive in this.
