Goulburn quaddie tips, form & specials for Friday, August 4

quaddie of the week
THE Friday quaddie this week takes us to just outside the nation’s capital to the beautiful surrounds of Goulburn.

We return to the heartland of NSW full of confidence after a sensational month of July on the tip, which has included double figure winners, successful quaddies and feature race wins left, right and centre.

It is the start of a new racing season however, which brings its own new challenges and dividends to produce.

Race five on the card is the Class Two David Alt Electrical Handicap over the 1200m distance, which kicks off the quaddie at 2.15pm.

William Hill 502 bonus

Race 5 – David Alt Electrical Handicap C2 (1200m)

Snowbrook is a dual-acceptor, but if the four-year-old mare runs around in this contest it will be very hard to beat. The mare has won twice and placed across this journey before and is second up today, where it has previously placed before.

Lewinski is an interesting runner that was disappointing last time out in a performance that belied the brilliant first up win on July 8. Nothing went right at Kembla after getting away slowly and the horse was always on the back foot. We are writing off that performance and jumping right back on board the daughter of Olympus.

Feisty Fox possesses a great racing record, the only concern is the fact it resumes after a lengthy lay off. The five-year-old is as consistent as you can get however, delivering a place strike rate of 56 percent. If it can pinch a cheap run in transit it has the ability to finish off strongly.

Race 6 – Fifes Stockfeeds Maiden Plate (1200m)

A maiden leg in a quaddie is always a nightmare so we have cast our net wide in the sixth race on the card.

Canford Lad has racing experience on a number of runners here which will be a big advantage on Friday. The horse was far from disgraced in a 2YO Handicap at Wagga two starts ago and if it brings that form into the contest it will be hard to hold out.

We are anticipating a big improvement from Appetizing after its first up fourth placed finish at Moruya three weeks ago. That was a quality race and the horse just wilted after sitting on the speed for the majority of the race. Second up it should strip a lot fitter and be fighting out the finish.

Forge Ahead is looking to build upon its first start fourth a fortnight ago. The colt firmed in betting but wilted badly. The experience of the competitive circuit will do wonders for this three-year-old which should improve exponentially.

High priced filly Aalto makes its debut after being purchased for $340,000 as a yearling. The trial form for the daughter of Pierro has been decent and it looks to be the best of the horses that have never taken to the track.

Race 7 quaddie tips: 2, 4, 5 and 10

Race 8 – Radio 2ST Maiden Plate (1000m)

The second of two maiden legs in our quaddie causes some consternation, but thankfully there are a trio of standouts in this field.

Debuting four-year-old Privily looks to be the key elect here if the trial form holds up. Across three of its four trials the gelding has finished second and within a length of the winner. It has been a long-time coming to get the horse on the track but we think it can win on debut.

Missed Out is second up following a disappointing sixth of seven runners at Hawkesbury after trialing magnificently at Goulburn. The horse is racing on a familiar track and will benefit from the racing experience on course.

Masterati resumes after a lengthy spell, but has trialed extremely well leading into this race. The last two trials have seen the horse finish within half a length of the winner both times and Joe Pride should have his runner ready to go and prepared to win.

Race 8 – Goulburn Signs BM65 (1300m)

Heavy raced Ready Set Sing looks to have found the perfect race to make it six wins from 56 starts. The gelding returns to a distance where it has finished second five times and and a track where it has previously placed at.

Common Purpose has been racing brilliantly lately without breaking through for an elusive win. After racing in metropolitan Sydney the horse returns to a local track where it has never missed a placing and won once across five attempts. Friday looks ideally suited.

Art Of Excellence is a quality horse that was poor first up at the middle of June. The horse has since trialed and won convincingly, suggesting its ready to resume racing. Prior to the ordinary showing at Nowra on June 15 the horse has recorded back-to-back wins, so its winning pedigree cannot be ignored.

This is the other race Snowbrook has been nominated for. We are big fans of the horse so it would be remiss of us to leave it out of the numbers.
