Gosford racing preview
We have a small card set down for judgement on Thursday afternoon on a Heavy 10 out at Gosford. With meetings cancelled earlier in the week, there will be plenty of connections hoping we can get through the six races at The Entertainment Grounds. The rail is set in the true position throughout, and the first field will face the starter at 2:10pm AEDT.
Before going to the paddock, Brad Widdup’s now-4YO mare chased home the impressive Tailleur and produced the best last 800m sectional of the race in the process, and we have since seen how impressive that galloper is. From barrier three, Vulpine maps to get the run of the race with Brock Ryan’s 1.5kg claim. Based on his form in the winter, he looks the best play of the day in a tricky meeting to find a sure thing.

We’ll be looking for the combination of Kris Lees and Nash Rawiller to help send us home a winner when they team up in the last race with this progressive 3YO colt. He was far from disgraced in his last start when battling it out to chase home Peltzer in the Group 2 Stan Fox Stakes. He gets the blinkers back on again and should take advantage of the rails draw to get the job done in the get-out stakes.

Rachel King and Brad Widdup team up with this 3YO filly who was beaten half a length last time out in a similar class over 1300m. She drops back 100m and rates highly with the in-form King retaining the ride. It may pay to be up on speed on a rain-affected track, and Supertanker should have no issue dictating terms from barrier three. She has a respectable record on wet surfaces and will figure in the finish.
